Each year Don Kroah, from WAVA FM 105.1,  invites our Coordinator Team to do a radio interview with him on his show.  Over the years, it’s been a great way to share the vision and mission of Christ On the Mall all over the DC area.  It’s also been helpful to connect believers together to come down to the Mall to share, serve and love people who need Christ.  Thanks Don!

One of our passions is to provide a “turn-key” event for churches to come down with teams of people to share Christ in not just one way – but in many ways: prayer, literature give away, speaking, sharing one-on-one, drama, music, service projects (e.g., thousands of cups of free water given out each year) and more. Outreach is doable for any Christian! You don’t have to be Billy Graham! As a matter of fact, in Matthew 5:16, Jesus said this, In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. You can shine by doing any number of things out on the Mall on the 4th!

But, we hope that churches will get excited about what they experience out on the Mall by sharing with the thousands there and take the passion and excitement back to their church and community – and continue it all year long!

As a matter of fact, we will be involved in more “mini-outreaches” throughout the year in the near future to sustain the relationships and connections that God has started with DC area churches – and beyond!

Perhaps more than ever, our community – and even our nation – needs hope and inner healing that only comes from experiencing a personal, spiritual relationship with Jesus Christ.   That’s the freedom that Christ was talking about in John 8:31-32, ” … You will know the truth and the truth will set you free.”

We sense that as we go out on the Mall this year, we want to bring the freedom to others that only Christ can give.  It’s a stressed out, crazy time that we’re living.  People need Christ’s message of inner healing and hope.

It’s our hope and desire to have bands that represent churches and ministries from DC and all around the DC area.  This year we’ll have Christian bands doing hip=hop, R&B, rock, Spanish jazz, worship and more.  It’s our passion to connect local bands and groups together to serve at the Mall each year.

As we look back over the years, partnering with Central Union Mission and all of the guys there has been a huge blessing. Each year the Mission oversees giving away about 50,000 cups of water on the Mall near the main stage. It’s sharing God’s love with people in a practical way. Thanks Central Union Mission!
