It’s great to have Brandon and his band back with us again this year!   He’s closing out the night from about 7:45 pm – 8:40 pm at the main stage.  Brandon has a real passion for Christ and for sharing his love with people through creative, upbeat music.  He’s done a lot of gigs at DC area churches and venues.  Don’t miss it!

This year, we were able to expand the number of Outreach Tents this year.  There will be tents throughout the 3 block area where people are praying and connecting with people who need Christ.   You’re invited to be part of things this year.  There will be special evangelism training all day in a special tent area too.

Rick Merryman, the Chief of Permits for the Park Service, retired this week after 42 years of service.  It was our privilege to attend his special retirement party and dinner with so many other groups and ministries that hold annual events on the National Mall.  Rick has been a friend of the ministry for years.  Together, we have lots of stories of eventful times on the Mall!  Remember the Beach Boys at the Washington Monument back in the 80′s – Rick?  Those were the days!  It was really something to have a stage right in the middle of the sea of people just a block from the Washington Monument – sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with them.    Many, many people gave their lives to Christ over the years.    Thanks again Rick for all of your help and service to make FreedomFestDC a great annual DC event!

For over 9 years Central Union Mission has been supplying thousands of cups of cold water to be given out on the 4th.  It’s been a great way to connect with people and even open up spiritual conversations about Christ too.  Each year, we put up a FREE WATER Tent near the main stage.  It’s kind of a main connecting place for people.  Where else can you get free water on the Mall?

It’s exciting to see and experience all of the excitement leading up to the 4th!   We’re so grateful for so many people who have a heart for people who need Christ!
