Thousands were touched by FreedomFEST 2007

Christ on the Mall - FreedomFEST 2007 was a great success! This year, we focused on sharing, connecting and loving within the body of Christ. Our theme verses from the Bible is John 17:20-26, in which Jesus prays that all believers can be united as one.

This year we again held the event on over two city blocks of space in front of the Air & Space Museum to share Christ through music, drama, free water giveaway, kids activities, one on one connecting with people in the crowds and with people at our prayer tent. We handed out approximately 15,000 gospel tracts to share the good news. Central Union Mission distributed 50,000 cups of free water that allowed volunteers to connect with people that came out for the festivities on the mall that day. This provided opportunities to witness to them when they were asked “Why are you doing this?” Most people responded positively and some engaged our volunteers in deeper spiritual discussion.

We had over 150 volunteers that came from a total of 18 churches from the local area, Seattle, Indianapolis and Nova Scotia, Canada. We were blessed to have so many people come down with the desire to reach out to the lost. As a result of their efforts, we have 41 documented salvations, but there were many more who came into a relationship with Christ but couldn’t leave their contact information.

We pray that, over the upcoming months, we will have the opportunity to connect to many more local churches and ministries so that they can also catch the vision and realize that this is one of the biggest evangelistic opportunities in the DC area. We are hoping that more people will choose to participate next year and we have already begun planning for FreedomFEST 2008.

We also want to thank American Tract Society and Good New Publishers for donating over 15,000 tracts. Thanks also goes out to Dare 2 Share Ministries for providing training and gospel tracts used to share the gospel at FreedomFEST 2007.

‘It’s just days after the 4th.  Please pray for our follow up team.  There are lots of people to connect with who made spiritual decisions for Christ from FreedomFEST 2007.  It’s exciting to get positive feedback from people who experienced God’s love for them on the Mall that day.

What a day!  FreedomFEST 2007 got off to a great start and finished with a bang - literally!  Over 250 volunteers and many, many churches and ministries were involved this year.  Thousands were touched by the message of Christ and the love of so many!   And, over eight bands and musical groups representing a diversity of styles played from the main stage.  We also had another great year reaching out to kids and families on the Mall.  We’re so thankful to God for an awesome outreach!

We spent all day today on July 3rd getting things ready for tomorrow’s outreach on the Mall. It’s going to be an incredible day! We were all just blown away at being right in the midst of the Capital of the US and being able to share Christ openly through music and more! It’s was awesome today how people from so many churches and ministries came by to help put up tents or a sign - and just connect with each other! We also we able to help a number of people begin a personal relationship with Christ! Well, it’s the 4th already … got to be back at the Mall at 5 am this morning! Please pray for day!!!

We’re just about ready for our 21st year in a row on the National Mall! Tomorrow, July 3rd, is the big set up day. This year we will have more of an emphasis on families and kids. Then, at the main stage there will be bands all day long beginning at 12:00 noon. Come on down and be part of reaching out to the thousands on the Mall.
